DIY Essential Oil Diffuser Necklace

Essential oils are like flowers, they bring life and beauty…not necessarily to the eyes but to the olfactory bulb.   The happy, energetic smell of lemon or a calming whiff of lavender is sometimes all this mom needs to get a little pick-me-up.
IMG_2897_edited-1 We have diffusers in our house, but when I saw this cool idea of wearing my oils on a necklace (that I could take anywhere with me), I had to find a way to make one for myself…plus a few extra.

Here are a few ways I am planning to use my essential oil diffuser necklace and some oil options to go with them

  • Relieve runny noses and allergies: Peppermint, Lemon, or Lavendar
  • Calm anxiety: Balance Blend, Lavender, Geranium, or Ylang Ylang.
  • Energize: Lemon, Wild Orange, Grapefruit, or Lemongrass.
  • Combat bacteria and inflammation: On Guard Blend, Frankincense, Melaleuca,
  • Soothe cramps: Clary Sage.
  • For the kids: Roman Chamomile or Lavender.

Materials Needed:

  • A pack of Oven-bake clay (I used Sculpey)
  • Jewelry Cord (I used Hemp)
  • Beads or charms with large holes.
  • Clasps (optional)
  • Large paper clip
  • A small circle cookie cutter (or a small lid)
  • A small stamp (to imprint a design on the clay)
  • Pure Theraputic Grade essential oils

Directions:

  1. Use your cookie cutter (or lid) to form the diffuser out of the clay.
  2. Using your stamp, press a design into the clay.
  3. Take your large paper clip and create a hole for the string to go into. (Depending on the size of your cord, you may need to create a larger hole.)
  4. Bake your clay according to the package instructions.
  5. Once your clay diffuser is cooled off, add beads, charms, along with the diffuser to the jewerly cord.
  6. Finish off by adding a clasp, or just tie it off. (I used a clasp for the first one I made, but the other two I just tied off, and they look just as good.) IMG_2875_edited-1
