100+ Amazing Books for 4th Grade Girls

Here is a list of 100+ best books for 4th-grade girls that I have compiled specifically for the 9-10 age range. It’s not always easy to find stories that will grab our daughter’s attention that are also clean and uplifting, but they are out there, and I’m going to share our favorites with you.

This book list was a delight to make, given that my youngest daughter is in 4th grade this year. It was a handful of books on this list that really started the ball rolling for her. She began the school year a little reluctant to chapter books, and now she has caught the spark. I often find her curled up in a corner of the house, lost in a book.

Fourth grade is a wonderful age to catch the reading bug. By sharing this list, I hope to take some of the guesswork out of book selection and give you some high-quality options to present to your budding readers.

Choosing Good Quality Chapter Books for Fourth Graders

When selecting books for my kids, I look for content that will be wholesome and engaging, with respectful relationships, positive themes, and no underlying negativity, dark themes, or hidden agendas.

  • No excessive potty humor

Before we get into our list, let me give you a few quick notes. First, I’ve divided this list into genres. I tried to account for varied levels of ability and organized each category starting with easier reads, and then moving to more advanced.

Secondly, I did not write a snippet or review for each book; instead, I’ve linked each one to Amazon, where you can find more info, read reviews, and decide for yourself if it is a good fit for your daughter (affiliate links included). And lastly, if you have any other book suggestions, leave them in the comments below!

Simple Ways to Build Your Home Library

I’m always on the lookout for great additions to my kids’ reading lists, and over time I’ve found a few easy ways to keep fresh recommendations coming:

  • Keep a running list of authors you love. When you find a good one, chances are they’ve written other books or even full series you can enjoy later.
  • Look for booklists from sources you trust—whether that’s online roundups, curriculum guides, or helpful resources like Home Learning Year by Year by Rebecca Rupp.
  • Check recommendation features on sites like Amazon or Goodreads. They often suggest similar titles that end up being just as enjoyable.
  • Swap ideas with friends and family who share similar values. A quick conversation can lead to some of our best discoveries.
