It is thicker than milk but not quite as thick as yogurt. It has a creamy, tangy, fermented taste similar to yogurt and makes an awesome base for smoothies. Put all the ingredients listed into a high-powered blender and puree. (I use a Ninja Blender) Each recipe will make about 2 servings.

  • Use quality ingredients. If you can source your fruits locally and shop what is in season. If you have the option to get organic, do it, the flavor will be unmatched and you don’t have to worry about anything unhealthy or toxic in your kefir smoothies.
  • Go with frozen fruits. Kefir smoothies are best when they are cold. The best way to cool it all down is to use frozen fruit. You can always add ice, but sometimes that can make it too thick.
  • Use a high-powered blender. When it comes to making good smoothies, a high powered blender can make or break the quality. We use our Ninja blender system and have been very pleased with its abilities. (affiliate link)
