Babushka by Dawn Casey

For a splendid Christmas book about giving, check this one out! Babushka is visited by three wisemen and asked if she wanted to join them, but she was too busy. The next day, she took her basket and tried to find them, but she couldn’t. Along her way, though, she encounters a hungry boy, and shivering girl and others who she gives gifts to from her basket.

Just Right for Christmas by Birdie Black

The king buys a piece of beautiful red cloth to make his daughter a gift for Christmas and discards the rest. Each character makes something of someone else and discards the rest, until all the fabric has been turned into a homemade gift for someone special. This is a wonderful little Christmas book about giving!

Mr. Willoby’s Christmas Tree by Robert Barry

Mr. Willowby’s Christmas tree doesn’t fit into his parlor. So, they have to keep trimming the top down. With each trim, someone else gets their own Christmas tree. This is an older story, but a wonderful Christmas book about giving that you can share with your little ones.

The Broken Ornament by Tony Di Terlizzi

Jack accidentally breaks one of his moms heirloom Christmas ornaments. With the help of a fairy, he makes it up to his mom and learns a lot about Christmas and giving along the way. I like that this book teaches kids to think of others.

The Berenstain Bears and The Joy of Giving by Mike Berenstain

Another great book by the Jan and Mike Bearenstain! For this one, follow Brother and Sister bear as they visit the first Christmas scene and learn a a lot about giving and the true meaning of Christmas.

Secret Santas: 12 Days of Giving by Courtney Petruzzelli

To really learn that Christmas isn’t all about getting but rather giving, be sure to read this little Christmas gem! Your kids will be thinking about ways they can give to others this upcoming Christmas.

Apple Tree Christmas by Trinka Hakes Noble

This family looses their favorite apple tree in a snow storm. But for Christmas, their father gives them heartfelt gifts made from the tree that would be passed down for generations. (Our family loves this book.)

The Legend of St. Nicholas by Dandi Daley Mackall

A little boy named Nick learns about the legend of St. Nickolas and the story of why we give gifts at Christmastime. This is a wonderful Christmas book about giving for kids of all ages.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Suess

It only makes sense that the Grinch was included in this list of Christmas books about giving. With its rhyming words and the Grinch’s mischievous deeds kids learn that Christmas is about giving the gifts of love, kindness, forgiveness, and sharing.

Mouses Christmas Gift by Mindy Baker

This is a sweet Christmas book about a small mouse who makes a big difference. When the parson gets sick, this tiny Church mouse finds a way to bring everyone together for Christmas.

Bear Stays Up For Christmas by Karma Wilson

Bear’s friends try their best to keep bear awake until Christmas by bringing him a tree, baking a cake, singing songs and more. Through Bear’s observations, he learns that Christmas is about giving and togetherness. (Cute book!)

Christmas in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Go back in time where delicious foods, homemade gifts, and togetherness were the delights of a Christmas celebrations. I think this book makes for good conversations about simple, thoughtful gifts as well as, an attitude of thankfulness in receiving them.

Night Tree by Eve Bunting

This is a sweet story about a family who finds a way to give gifts to their outdoor and forest friends by decorating a tree with apples, tangerines, seeds and more. I love that this Christmas book about giving teaches kids to even consider the animals as ones they can give gifts to.

A Christmas Carol by Adam KcKeown

If you want a classic Christmas book about giving, be sure to read this kid-friendly version of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol. Especially great for upper elementary.
