Summer Prewriting Activities

Today I’m sharing some summer prewriting activities. With only twelve more days until it is officially summer. We plan on taking much of the summer off and getting our daily dose of vitamin D before the next rainy season.

However, I plan to do a little reading, writing, and math practice with the kids, so we don’t loose our momentum come September.

Of course, with the older kids doing anything educational, our youngest will want to be included…

She’s still enjoying her Preschool Learning Folder, but to add more options, I put together this summer-themed, prewriting notebook.

Now she can sit at the picnic table in the backyard and have her “school” too. ❤️

Prewriting is a gentle introduction to handwriting. It builds fine motor skills, teaches basic strokes of handwriting, and simply allows the child to become acclimated to using a writing utensil.

This packet includes the basic strokes of letters and shapes (straight, angled, and crossed lines), flowing motion, and shape formation.

Are you doing any schooling this summer?

  1. Hi Jessica, getting a daily dose of vitamin D will be important. I understand your need to keep the kids focused before September comes. That is a great prewriting package that will bring a kid on by leaps and bounds. Our kids could use some summer schooling, especially our kindergarten graduate with reading. Have a nice day Dear, Terri xo.
