Adjective Activities for Kids

  • Describe your day: Have your kids describe their day using words that reflect what they saw, heard, smelled, tasted, and touched. Then, after they are finished, have your other students see if they can retell some of the adjectives that were used.
  • Play Guess Who: Have your students come up with a person. Then, have them form a riddle using adjectives that describe the person they are trying to have their peers solve for.
  • Make an A Word Craft – Choose one of these adjectives that start with E and make a craft! From paper plate alligators to Apple Tree Handprints there are lots of fantastic crafts to choose from. Doing a craft is a great way to practice new parts of speech as well as, new vocabulary words.
  • Play the Blindfolded Object Guessing Game – To play, blindfold your students and hand them and object and see if they can identify them. Encourage them to use adjectives to describe what the object feels like.
  • Adjective Bean Bag Toss – To play, call out a noun and begin tossing the bean bag to each other. With each toss, have your students say an adjective that describes the noun given. The first person to run out of an adjective first, is out.
