Various Types of February Writing Prompts
Every day in February is a new opportunity to get into another writing adventure. Let me give you a sneak peek at some of the creative prompts in this resource:
1. February List Writing
Listing things is a simple way to get writing! It gets your student’s imagination and their pencil moving in the right direction.

2. Short Story Writing Prompts
You will also find short story prompts in the journal. These are opened ended prompts that get kids thinking and inserting their own style and imagination.
3. Writing Comic Strips
Comic strips are a favorite format for kids to write in. With boxes, text bubbles, and a good prompt, an afternoon of comic-making is a fabulous way to get kids writing.

4. Opinion Writing Prompts
Kids have lots of opinions and they love to share them. Learning how to articulate their perspective and dabble in persuasion are key components to good writing. While the opinion writing prompts in this journal are simple, they create a framework for future writing.

6. February Poetry Writing Prompts
The February creative writing prompts include acrostic, haiku, and free verse poetry writing. Once again, nothing complex, but a wonderful foundation for future writing.
7. February Letter Writing
Learning to write letters is becoming a lost art, but knowing how to construct a good letter (or email) is an essential writing skill.
8. February Sequencing Writing Prompts
Sequencing writing prompts are also included in this journal. Learning how to organize our thoughts and then write them down is an invaluable skill.
Tip: I found it helpful for my kids to tell me their process or sequence before writing it down.
