  • Read Books That feature Items That Start With Letter S – One way of learning about the letter S is by reading books that feature and repeat S words and objects throughout the text. Get a  books for letter S list or simply look through your home library and get started today. (Note: Two of our favorite S books are, The Spiffiest Giant by Julia Donaldson and Katy and the Big Snow by Virginia Lee Burton.)
  • Play Word Unscramble: Give your kids some S words to unscramble! To start, write an object that starts with S on a board with the letters all jumbled up. Next, challenge your kids to unscramble the letters and figure out what the word is. (For an added challenge, you can set a timer or make it a contest to see who can unscramble it first.)
  • Make a Snack Using Foods That Start with S – Another fun and tasty way to challenge your kids to think through things that start with S is to have them see if they can prepare a snack or meal using only foods that start with the letter S. What will they come up with? A sausage sandwich? S’mores with sprinkles? Either way, the possibilities will be fun to come up with and even more so, to try!
