My mom bought some spring chicks. They are fluffy, fragile little things that bring sparkles to her grandkids’ eyes. When we visit, the kids crowd around the warm light and reach their hands in to touch the soft, new feathers.

We have a couple ‘crazy hours’ throughout our day. They are typically the hour before lunch and the hour before dinner. I don’t know if it’s low-blood sugar or a bored anxiety but my kids’ energy goes through the roof.
Today I’m sharing some of our favorite screen-free activities. My kids are getting to the age that I’m trying to get them to engage in more independent activities (even if it is only for a few minutes). My goal is not to entertain them but to prompt them to creativity and independence.
