- Basket Coffee filters
- Wood Clothespin
- Pinecones
- Small twigs or stems
- Scissors
- Glue (tacky glue OR hot glue)

How to Make a Nature-Inspired Coffee Filter Butterfly
- Fold four coffee filters in half three times. (This is going to give the wings a thick, fluttery look.)

- Trim the ends of the wings to shape them like a butterfly. Make two for the top and two for the bottom wings. You can shape them however you like, or you can mimic the image below for what we did.

- Glue the coffee filters together, then place the clothespin over the middle section.

- Now, break apart your pinecone into pieces to make the ‘body’ of the butterfly. (We tried to line them from smallest to largest, then attached each of them together.)
- Once all the ‘body’ has dried, attach it to the clothespin and add the twigs for antenna, then you are done!
