Simple Bouquet Ideas For Garden Flowers

A gallon jar bursting with sprigs of cut flowers from the garden is the quintessential essence of summer for me. I love the way they add color to a room and bring a piece of the outdoors inside. With that being said, let me share a few of my go-to simple bouquet ideas using the garden flowers I have one hand this week.

You really don’t need to go out and buy anything to be able to create a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Here are a few of my essentials to get started:

  • Floral scissors or shears: For cutting stems cleanly.
  • Vase, Jar, or other Container: For showcasing your bouquet.
  • Bucket with water: To keep flowers hydrated until arranging.

Simple Bouquet Ideas – Even Kids and Do

1. One Type Wonder

This is the simplest of bouquet ideas in my opinion. All you have to do is fill a vase with all of the same flower type; all roses, all daisies, all dahlias, all zinnias, you really can’t go wrong. You don’t have to worry about mixing or matching colors and they are so satisfyingly beautiful.

A lot of times, this is my go-to bouquet idea, because I only have enough of one thing blooming at that moment, or I am in a pinch for time. Either way, this one type wonder bouquet never lets me down.

2. Monochromatic Magic

Monochromatic flower bouquets are simply combining flowers that are various shades of the same color. For a lemonade theme you could use sunflowers, marigolds, black-eyed Susan, and calendula. For pink theme, you could combine dahlias, zinnias, and roses.

3. Bold and Beautiful

If color is what you have growing, pull it together and see what you get! I love when the zinnias come on, because they offer bright yellows, reds, pinks, and oranges that are simply stunning! Late summer also brings other bold beauties that you can work with like black-eyed Susans, sunflowers, and dahlias. Here is a sampling of the bold colors I’ve got coming out of my garden this week:

4. Romantic

The romantic-themed bouquet is simple, feminine, and elegant. It elevates a dinner, makes a great gift, or adds that touch of beauty that you are craving. When I want a romantic flower bouquet I reach for the soft pinks and purples and pair them with wispy whites. Roses and Dahlias offer some of the best ‘romantic’ looking flowers and baby’s breath is usually my first choice for the whites.

5. Clean and Simple

The clean and simple flower bouquet idea features neutral colored blooms with the stems stripped of foliage. It’s not flashy but it’s light, clean, and airy. These are my favorite to put on the table when I’m craving clean and simple, yet lovely.

6. Wild and Free

These bouquets would resemble what you would imagine Fraulein Maria picking as she frolics through the fields in the movie Sound of Music; Loose, hand-picked, casual, organic, and all-around lovely. Kids have a natural way of picking the best wild and free bouquets. No strategy, just putting together flowers and greenery that call out to you as beautiful.

Get Started With What You Have

You don’t have to be a florist to use these simple flower bouquet ideas. I’m not. Flowers are for everyone to use, enjoy, and create with. What do you have around your yard or garden that you can use?
