  • Play Word-Related Board Games – To explore items that start with I, Play some word-related board games! These games include ones like  ScrabbleScattergories, and Boggle. These types of board games are really helpful for practicing vocabulary words that start with a particular letter.
  • Letter I Object Collage: Create a collage of items that begin with the letter I! To prepare, get some scissors, glue, paper, and some newspapers and magazines. To make the collage, look through the newspapers and magazines for any objects or words that start with the letter I. Then, cut out those items and glue them on the paper. If you have older kids, encourage them to label it items in their collage.
  • Read Books That Feature Objects that start with letter I – Reading with your kids is a wonderful way to get them acquainted with objects associated with specific letters. So visit your local library and get a handful of letter I picture books and enjoy reading together. (One of our favorite letter I books is Inch by Inch by Leo Lionni.)
  • Write I Words in Sand: Practicing I words by writing them in sand. (If you don’t have access to sand, you can use a dish with cornmeal or sugar). Hand your child an object that starts with I and have them try to spell the word in the sand. (This sensory spelling activity can be a great introduction to spelling and vocabulary.)
